Paperback: 808 pagesPublisher: Manhattan Prep Publishing; 4 Pap/Psc edition (April 8, 2014)Language: EnglishISBN-10: 1937707784ISBN-13: 978-1937707781 Product Dimensions: 8.5 x 1.5 x 11 inches Shipping Weight: 3.9 pounds (View shipping rates and policies) Best Sellers Rank: #140,493 in Books (See Top 100 in Books) #21 in Books > Education & Teaching > Higher & Continuing Education > Law School Guides #61 in Books > Education & Teaching > Higher & Continuing Education > Test Preparation > Graduate School > LSAT #80 in Books > Law > Legal Education > Test Preparation
If you want to get into the law school of your choice, or any law school for that matter, there is no doubt you are going to have to prepare for the LSAT. Simply being a good "test taker" is not going to be enough nor is that 4.0 you managed to hold onto for so long. There are a lot of people applying for a few slots and the competition will be hot. The difference can be how well you do on your LSATs. You’re going to have to work hard, practice, think, and learn additional test taking strategies.

What I really like about this book is how it teaches me to focus and take a close look at the questions themselves. I may have gotten a correct answer, but why did I chose that one over the others? Manhattan Prep goes through each question, one by one, working through the answers after you’ve completed a practice test. For example, when I just flipped through the book I spotted a question that was interesting. On one of the incorrect answers there’s a conversational explanation outlining why each of the incorrect answers are tough, not particularly helpful, or irrelevant. I want to know where my own logic is flawed, or on the money, and why. I’ve taken tests and for months have pondered where I went wrong and will probably go wrong again on future tests.

If you intend to prep for a test, you need to dedicate some time and a few dollars. If you really feel you are deficient, perhaps you need a course, but if you simply need practice, this is the book for you. I would also recommend buying some older versions, other "brand" names included, to work with. The more you practice these tests, the more confident you will feel with your ability to not only answer the questions, but answer them within the allotted time frame.

For thirty years I have struggled with math and I finally passed my algebra classes then I had to take a statistics course in order for me to move forward in pursuit of achieving my goal to go to a four year university and thanks to this book and a wonderful instructor, I m FINALLY going to CSUN!!!!!! It’s interesting when I try to share with my friends and family they don’t want to approach the subject, but my boyfriend gets an idea of what I am talking about when I discuss with him some of the things I share with him. I wish my family wouldn’t run and hide and not panic and just relax and listen without panicking. Believe me, it was a challenge and I managed to get a "B" in my class!!!!!! Who would have thought, me getting a "B" in statistics?!!!!!!!
Have an open mind when you read and listen to what is being taught to you, don’t panic, relax and listen very carefully and don’t say I can’t do it; If I can do it (someone who’s struggle with math for years and now made it) you can do it! Oh one more thing, take good notes from your instructor!

I requested this book as it was required for my doctoral work towards the Doctor of Nurse Practice completion. It will prepare me well for the quantitative and qualitave review of statistical significance necessary for evidence-based medicine literature reviewed and personally written. I also believe that this text will weave into clinical practice a better understanding of the scientific data found in today’s literature. It will give the reader the conceptual anaysis and skills to accurately choose those articles of inclusion and exclusion for today’s valuable literature searches. The final otcome of my coursework will be the completed Capstone project containing such valuable researched literature.

I bought this book because I required it for doing my PhD. For the most part I found it easy to understand and it helped me in interpreting some of the questions posed in my homework and exams. It is fairy comprehensive and covers most of the subject area I require for the next four years.

If you’ve taken any basic high school psychology or sociology, this book is a total review. Super-textbooky. Waste of money.

I liked the definitions on the sides of the pages and the content was easy to understand. The print was a good size, not too small.

Great for high school or entry college class into psychology. Unfortunately, this was a requirement for my child psych degree. I wish it wasn’t so juvenile and was more in depth. The material seems rather basic, a lot of common sense information that anyone working towards a degree in child development or psychology should already know. That being said, it has a nice layout and I do appreciate the definitions in the side margins.

This chart is a great study aid for basic secured transactions law. It is a useful study aid for law school exams and the bar exam. It’s breakdown of priority is very easy to follow, and the definitions given are clear and concise.

This is a must for ST. ST is a bit overwhelming at first but looking at the big picture first helps understand the small subparts, and this chart definitely helps with that. I got an A on this course thanks to this chart and the Secured Transactions Q&A.

Extremely helpful. I am very glad I purchased this product. This helped me pass the class and learn the material I needed to learn

I never in a million years thought I’d give DG less than five stars. She’s one of three authors on my release-date auto-buy, and I’ve been eagerly awaiting this book for years. But having spent the last couple of weeks reading it, I really don’t even know what to say (I know I should take that back – I ALWAYS have something to say and I’m about to say it).

Problem one: It took me several weeks to read. I’m a compulsive reader. I can’t sleep with a story unfinished, and yet Echo never grabbed me. I went several days without evening picking it up because I didn’t feel like it. I never felt emotionally engaged. A good lot of the time, I just didn’t care what was happening. And even worse, I felt bored by the story.

Problem two: The book is so physically big that it hurt to read. And I mean that literally. I had shoulder and elbow pain from holding it up. It really, really needed to be cut. There was a point where I wished DG had cut out the last 150 pages and replaced them with "Six months later." There was just too much of mundane life and while beautifully written, it had no presence, no force, no suspense. The book overall needed more focus on story and less on how to fix a collapsed lung using nothing but tar and a bird feather. Many of the elements got lots of story didn’t end up leading anywhere (such as Ian & the two orphan girls. I expected them to show up again.)

Problem three: Timing. The book is really three different stories. Jamie & Claire in 1777 America (mostly), William (Wee Willie) Ramsome in about the same time period, and Bree & Roger in 1980’s Scotland. But the timelines didn’t happen evenly and so I was often rather confused. For example: William is leaving to go find Dr. Hunter in the rebel camp.

Messages from the Masters

Messages from the Masters: Tapping Into the Power of Love Hardcover – May, 2000
Author: Brian L. Weiss ID: 0446525960

.com Review

Author and physician Brian Weiss first delved into the realm of past-life therapy in his highly successful and controversial book Many Lives, Many Masters. Although he has since developed a huge following in the field of “regression therapy” (in which clients are hypnotized in order to access previous lifetimes), Weiss has focused this latest book on the here and now. “Past lives are still a significant concept and value for me, but understanding and expressing love, joy, and inner peace in my everyday life have become more significant,” Weiss explains.

Weiss, who is now an internationally sought-after lecturer, uses his teaching voice to address happiness and love in our current lifetimes. This is indeed a “how-to” book, packed with ambitious discussions on why we choose to “come back” to our current lives and the role of fate. He also devotes many chapters to spiritual self-help, showing readers why it’s important to let go of anger, develop a loving spiritual family, and cultivate love and compassion. No, these are not new or original concepts. But those who liked the past-life visions and riveting anecdotes in Many Lives, Many Masters will find themselves equally riveted. –Gail Hudson

From Publishers Weekly

According to Weiss, the earth is like a “chaotic one-room schoolhouse” in which evolving souls reincarnate to learn faith, charity, compassion and the transcendence of fear and anger. The author, a psychiatrist and expert in psychopharmacology, was moved to learn more about reincarnation after patients under hypnosis described detailed, verifiable memories of past-life experiences. Meditation and work with mediums then brought him in contact with “master spirits,” who helped him develop a psychoanalytic method grounded in spirituality. The spirits’ messages, which Weiss first presented in Many Lives, Many Masters, appear here in condensed form and elucidate themes such as karma, obstacles to happiness and joy, the reunion of soul mates and love’s capacity to connect souls across all dimensions. The author employs case studies, some involving celebrities like singer Gloria Estefan and bestselling author and medium James Van Praagh, to explain past-life regressions, near-death experiences and communication with deceased loved ones. While Weiss’s points about the paranormal are provocative, his book would have benefited from the addition of case studies clarifying how the integration of spirituality into psychotherapy enhances the healing process. And his contention that contemporary psychotherapies lack spiritual roots and are “in their death throes” will be widely challenged in psychiatric circles. Still, his work sheds light on a controversial topic worthy of serious attention. Agent, Joni Evans. (May)

The "Masters" are highly evolved souls not in physical form who pass along messages of love, wisdom and universal truth. Psychiatrist Brian Weiss, famous for his books on reincarnation, received these messages through various means including his own meditations and the past-life regressions of his patients. Whether someone is a long-time spiritual seeker or just beginning their spiritual journey, there is so much of value in this book!
In each chapter, I’m impressed by 3 things: (1) the quote from the masters that opens the chapter, (2) the amazing stories Weiss shares, and (3) the plethora of practical advice.
(1) Each chapter begins with a quote from the masters about 1 to 2 paragraphs long-a lot of wisdom packed into a few words. These messages include the importance of love, forgiveness, patience, meditation and visualization; and information about reincarnation and life in spiritual form. Although these messages corroborate other spiritual and metaphysical books I’ve read, it’s great to have messages on so many topics succinctly boiled down to their essence in one book.
(2) Each chapter contains fascinating stories that reinforce the masters’ quote which begins the chapter. The stories come from many sources including Brian Weiss’ life, his regression patients and workshop participants, and experiences with talented mediums such as James Van Praagh. The stories are truly amazing, and if the reader believes the author is telling the truth, provide incontrovertible evidence the existence of the soul outside the human body via out of the body-, between life-, and reincarnation experiences. I recognized several stories from Weiss’ previous books, but most were new.
Reincarnation. Many people believe we are on this planet to learn lessons, a spiritual school of sorts, and we keep returning until we get it right. While others still hold true to the tenets of their religions: We go to Heaven if we’re good and to Hell if we’re bad. While the belief in reincarnation has been part of the teachings in the eastern countries for centuries, it is a relatively new concept for many in the west. Have you ever visited a place for the first time and known where to find everything without the use of a guidebook or map? You just knew as though you had lived there before. Well, maybe you did live there in a previous life. Psychiatrist Brian Weiss has spent the past twenty years learning more and more about reincarnation and past life regression. His fourth book, "Messages From the Masters: Tapping Into the Power of Love," promotes what Weiss feels is the most important lesson we can learn – Love. Weiss hasn’t always believed in reincarnation. In fact, as a respected Yale University trained psychiatrist, he dealt in scientific fact. But, twenty years ago, when a patient visited his office for treatment to rid herself of numerous phobias, his beliefs slowly began to change. Weiss calls this patient Catherine in his first book, "Many Lives, Many Masters." In the book he tells the story of how when he used traditional regression therapy, sending Catherine back into her memory to her childhood to find the root of her fears, he was astonished to find her describing a life 4,000 years ago in a place like Babylon where she died in a flood. Weiss at first thought Catherine was experiencing a fantasy, or maybe remembering a movie. In any case, her fear of drowning disappeared.

First, I didn’t have to take chemistry, biology, or physics for my test. My test didn’t even have physics as an option. I don’t see how this book wouldn’t help with those subjects, though. Some of the sample questions were actually on my test. I ended up with a 94.4, and I only went over the 3 sample tests once. I also went over the HESI Admission Assessment Exam Review that is put out by Elsevier. I would recommend using that book in conjunction with this one, especially if you’re a little weak with some of the subjects. Some of the sample questions are the same as in the McGraw-Hill book, but there aren’t as many questions. It’s mostly review with one sample test for each subject. If you’re serious about becoming a nurse, get this book and the other. You will do great.

Oh, and when researching the HESI test, a lot of people asked about the math. I got a 98 on the math, which I blame on the stupid on screen calculator. It’s mostly fractions and decimals. You will have to know conversions (metric-standard, standard-metric, F-C, C-F, etc), though there seemed to be an unending amount of fractions.

They other subjects are pretty basic, and there was more anatomy than physiology. Study the book. You will do well.

Not only was this book a great review, but I used it to tutor some classmates who didn’t pass the first time. They passed the second time!!! I made a 96% on math and 92% on reading. Good luck to all who have to take the HESI on the future! Use this book!

Very good review! I repeated each test a total of five times which took a while but really helped. I really appreciated the answer explantations as well. I took Reading, vocabulary, grammer, anatomy and physiology, biology and chemistry. Passed with flying colors. Definitely recommend!

This book is awful! I just took the Kaplan nursing entrance exam today and this book was no help at all. The writing section of the actual test is all grammar. However, this book only reviews vocabulary and spelling for the writing section. Completely useless since none of that is on the test. DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK. Save your money and study your A&P notes for Science, get a book specifically for grammar. Math focus on your fractions and decimals. The only thing this was somewhat helpful for was the reading section. However, I would never waste my money on this book again.

Im glad my nursing program uses the Kaplan exam, not that the hesi A2 isn’t great but the Kaplan way is more focused on the nclex, so I dont have to prepare for that later once im out of nursing school I’ve got it all here. An I love the pretest in the beginning so I dont hav to go back over a&p or vocab or reading..jux math and that really helps you concentrate on your weaknesses

This is a good review if you are completely nervous and don’t know what to expect. However this does not help much with critical thinking questions, and on my test it was more of a writing section instead of vocabulary so that section did not help. I found the math and reading sections very helpful, and the science section was a good review. DO NOT RELY ON JUST THIS BOOK TO STUDY. Over all this did help me so it was worth the buy.
